Upstate New York Family Dairy Farm and Creamery

Our family has been dairy farming in the Battenkill Valley region of Upstate, NY for more than a century. My great-great grandfather began milking cows just up the valley in 1902.

In 1945, my grandfather moved the farm to its current location. We have been farming the same land ever since. Our farm has steadily grown from 12 cows when my grandfather took over to our current size of 350 cows. Our herd consists of Holsteins, Jerseys and Holstein-Jersey crossbreeds.

In 2003, our family began contemplating the idea of bottling our own milk right here on the farm. After extensive research, trips to several milk bottling facilities in the Northeast, visits to many farmer’s markets, analysis of the dairy market, and long family discussions we decided to move forward with the idea in late 2006.

In February of 2007 we began renovating our existing machine shed into our creamery. Needless to say, we had our work cut out for us! We had to move all of our equipment, pour new concrete floors, put up numerous walls, and put in a new electric system. Not to mention, install all of the processing equipment we had acquired.

After a year of hard work, we began bottling our own, local farm fresh milk!! Our first processing day was February 15th, 2008. Our milk goes from our cows to our bottles in less than eight hours! We take pride in providing our customers with the freshest milk possible.

In May 2010 we began our home delivery service, providing local, farm fresh products to the doorsteps of our Saratoga Springs’ customers.
